Leaders unite people.

Leaders offer a calm voice in the midst of chaos.

Leaders put personal and political agendas aside for the greater good.

What side of the political aisle you stand, shouldn’t be an issue.

We don’t need our elected leaders – still earning a paycheck – to point fingers. We need you to pick up the phone and come up with unified solutions.

We are all in unfamiliar territory. The “would have, could have and should have” conversation is damaging.

It’s time to focus the talk on what you are doing today. The most insulting is using this crisis for a political agenda. The world is in crisis. Those in leadership positions in every industry needs to stand up and lead.

If you have been elected, appointed or promoted into a leadership position, now is your time to be a true servant leader.

Communicate like a leader and offer hope, solutions and strategy to the rest of the world looking to you for answers.

It’s time to unite as one America and as a human race and get through this crisis together.

5 Ways to Communicate Like a Leader During a Crisis

  1. Stick to the facts: Keep your opinions to yourself. A crisis often causes anxiety for many people. There is so much unknown with this Covid-19 crisis. Calm people down by sticking to information that you know is true and useful. Share only what you know will be informative and helpful. Edit out personal agendas and political opinions.
  2. Stay calm: Children do what they see parents do. Staff will follow the lead of the boss. It’s imperative that leaders stay calm. No one wants to see the President of the United States, a governor, a CEO the head of a hospital or the Superintendent of a School district panic. We need level-headed leaders in a time of a crisis.
  3. Collaborate with others: Pick up the phone and brainstorm with other like leaders. Get ideas and create solutions and draft messaging to disperse to your audiences. People want to see leaders unified and working together for the greater good.
  4. Share solutions: Use your various platforms to share useful information and solutions. People want to be in control and with a crisis, people often feel helpless. Give team members things they can do during this time.
  5. Offer hope: It is so important to stay positive when all around us are messages of doom and gloom. Offer prayer and time to communicate as a team about what is happening. Accommodate the needs of others. Give them hope by assuring you are doing all you can as a leader to help them and protect them and the organization.
